Setting Up Wi-Fi Sync for iPhone, iPad, and iPod
Syncing through Wi-Fi with iTunes is a great time saver and just works great for not having to deal with wires.
A problem many users are having with the iOS 5 Update is that Wi-Fi Sync doesn’t work. It’s Greyed out in your iPad, iPhone, or iPod.
All you need to do is turn on Wi-Fi Syncing when your iDevice is connected to your computer via the USB.
Here’s a picture of what you need to tick under Summary. “Sync with this iPod/iPhone/iPad over Wi-Fi.”
And that’s all there is to it, now your sync works through wi-fi when you connect to power or just go to settings -> General -> iTunes Wi-Fi Sync and click on Sync Now. Make sure you are on the same Wi-Fi network.
Make sure iTunes is open and if you are connected to power it will sync automatically, but you don’t need to be connected to power to sync, just have enough power.
It’s slower than a wire, but it works and you can still use your iDevice while syncing.
Instead of having the Greyed on Sync Now button, now you can just click Sync Now or plug it in and have it automatically sync for you.
You can even edit Music, Apps, and other stuff on your iDevice without it connected to your computer. Just make sure you are on the same Wi-Fi Network and it shows up in iTunes as a “Devices.”
