No Poo & Q-tips Diet + Day 2

You read it; I will not be using poo in my hair anymore!

Yes, no more shampoo or Q-tips in my ears. Expect a video everyday with updates on how it is going.

I read an awesome blog post by Karol here and the comments and post tell me there is far too much benefit in not washing hair. Karol titles it “How I Cured My Dandruff and Itchy Scalp.”

Consider this method if you have dandruff or an itchy scalp, it may help you be free of that for life.

Change the System not the Symptom

There is a magic pill for almost everything these days.

Need to poo? There is one of those.

Need to make love? There are many of those.

Need to lose weight? There are many of those.

While not all of them work and some of them work, these pills only aim at the symptom of a problem.

Doctors prescribe anti-biotic pills too much today for simple things. There are more people dying from resistant infections, than HIV/AIDS together.

100,000 people perished from these diseases (antibiotic resistance type diseases) in 2007.

HIV/AIDS, meanwhile, killed 17,000 people in 2005. 18,600 died of Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections in 2005.

If you don’t care, fine, it’s your choice in this situation, I’m pointing out in the long term there are ways to suffer a lot less by taking a few steps.

I know too many people who take Night quill when they feel they are going to get sick. Wouldn’t it be better to not even get sick in the first place? It’s possible, just change the system.

Here are a few ways to “Change the System.” I’m no doctor here, so see a doctor before you do any of this stuff.

  • If you feel a lack of energy or are overweight – Exercise (Cardio + Weight lifting)
  • If you feel a lack of energy or are overweight – Eat Good Whole Foods (Veggies, Meat, Fruit, Raw stuff)
  • If you want to last longer in bed, breath deeper (this works wonders for guys), and read books about increasing longevity naturally (This book on Tantra has a great chapter about it)
  • Avoid anti biotics except for things you REALLY need it for. This article explains it in detail

Those are just a few ways to change the system. There is a lot more ways, though we’ll explore those later.

Why No More Poo?

I don’t have dandruff or an itchy scalp. I’m stopping shampoo because it is healthier for my head! Also so while I travel, I won’t need shampoo or Q-tips.

I’m changing the system before any symptoms arrive (I did have dandruff before).

I’ve heard from too many sources about shampooing hair too much is damaging is some way; it’s why most girls I know wash their hair every two to three days.

Reading a little, our hair has natural oils good for our hair/head which are washed out with the shampoo we use.

Here are the exact steps Karol recommends:

Step 1: Commit to 30 days

If you don’t give your body time to adjust to this new way of living you won’t get any benefit out of it.

Step 2: “Wash” without washing

This is the real secret. When I tell most people they just think it’s gross and don’t hear me out. :)

When I hop in the shower in the morning I give my scalp a vigorous 15 second rinse under the water. This gets the visible oiliness out of my hair, but doesn’t actually strip my scalp of any oil.

It’s washing without washing.

When you first do this you’ll notice that your hair might feel a little “sticky.” Don’t worry, you have to give it time to adjust.

Step 3: Conditioning

The natural oils in your scalp are now your conditioner. Don’t use any conditioning products.

Step 4: Towel dry and comb

Towel dry your hair and comb it out. Don’t use a hair dryer if you can help it.

Step 5: Style without product

Style your hair as you normally would, but don’t use any additional styling products. See how it works.

If anything, you will probably use a lot less styling product than normal.

No More Q-TIPS (Cotton Swabs)

This goes with Q-tips too. I love using cotton swabs after a shower, I LOVE it. A little obsessive, but I LOVE IT.

Which means, I’m going to deal with it directly, tons o ear wax for a while. I hear the ear wax settles down and natural ear wax settles.

I hear we are suppose to have this natural ear wax, it protects our ears and all the things inside. I love my hearing, I’m going to give my body the best it needs and wants.

Here are my steps!

Step 1: Commit to 30 days

Give your body time to adjust to this. Your ears may feel wax-e and really bad, though think about our ancestors, did they use Q-tips?

Step 2: Dry the outer areas

Depending on your ear wax type, you may feel it as really runny or hard. Mine is runny so I usually dry my ears during the day, I dry the outer area after a shower with a towel. During the day you still may feel you need to dry your ears, do it with any soft cloth.

Step 3: ???

Step 4: Profit

Now your ears are awesome. This may not be for everyone though I’ll let you know my exact results when I’m finished.

      The headphone is probably shaking because I may be moving around with my hands n stuff. Beyond that, I gotta have the Mic there to have better sound in the video!
